No!), etc. am during breakfast right outside Banana Walk Restaurant - Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Great Egret Bird Sanctury (9:30-1:00 Taxi RT $80 for the ride, 2 person) (Tour + sugar bottle feeding, $20 + $20 / person; totally $160 for 2 persons) 10am-12:30pm - Jamaican Tody, Orangequit, Bananaquit, Greater Antillean Bullfinch, Jamaican Mango, Red-billed Streamertail (Dr. Bird), Jamaican Oriole, American Redstart, Jamaican Spindalis (Spindalis nigricephala), formerly called Stripe Headed Tanager. - seen by the guide not me - Jamaican Woodpecker - lizard, gecko. - not seen? - Yellow-faced Grassquit (female/male) 4/26 (Sat) am around breakfast - Yellow-crowned Night Heron having a crab, Crab (pictured), Kingbird couple on a tree (the male fighting off other males, defense the territory) Black River Safari Boat Tour & YS Falls Safari - crocodiles, Night Heron immature, Black-crowned Night Herons, Frigatebirds, vultures or hawks - Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets nesting opposite to the dock and resturant. - lizards - green dragonfly (no picture) YS Falls - Grackles around sunset - hermit crabs, a lot 4/27 (Sun) whole day at Sunset Beach Resort; heavy rain two times. - Pelican, Grackle, lizards, yellow crabs. - Yellow-crowned Night Heron visited three meal times the day. - Tern on the floating ball far out the shore. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Fish seen while snorkling at Sunset Beach Resort - Balloonfish (Spiny Porcupine Fish) (Diodon holocanthus) http://www.siung.net/bird/tmp2/2013/birdlist2013_new_orleans.htm - French Grunt (Haemulon flavolineatum) seen a lot http://www.siung.net/bird/tmp2/2013/birdlist2013_new_orleans.htm - sergeant fish? ------------------------------------------------------------------- 4/28 (Mon) leaving Sunset Beach Resort & checking in Half Moon, Rose Hall, a RockResort we have a very large hotel room at 2/F. (Rm 28) with a large balcony and large bathroom. I think it is the largest hotel room, largest balcony & largest bathroom in our life. both - many crabs. The red one is so abundant. It is also the favorite meal of the Yellow-crowned Night Heron. The same crab as the one eaten yesterday. Today I saw the whole process of the Heron: picking up the crab, cutting its feet and swallowing its body. But unfortunately, no camera on hand so no picture nor video. Half Moon - hummingbirds (one is large and looks like Mango) - Yellow-crowned Night Heron (1) - Moorhen family of 3 and a pair (possibly a couple) - Little Blue Heron (1) - red dragonfly (1) - Terns (5) - Anis (3) - noisy frogs (or crickets?) around my room all the evening 4/29 (Tue) Half Moon am - a couple of Moorhen families of 3 - tricolored or other heron, get very close - dragonflies: red, yellow and dark color. But no picture of the dark color - damselflies - Red-legged Thrush (also video-ed at Punta Cana) - Starlings - Mockingbird - Kingbird, of course - large crab - Bananaquit or Stripe-headed Tanager pm - small red-winged dragonfly - White-crowned Pigeon (2)
