Marine Nature Study Area (Oceanside)

Home -> Grand Central -> Cross Island -> Southern State Parkway E.  return (via 711 School Dr, North Baldwin, NY 11510-1121)

 Take Southern State Parkway to exit 20S (Grand Avenue-Baldwin). Pass Sunrise Highway, then turn right on Atlantic Avenue. Turn left on Waukena Avenue and start looking for signs to the nature center. Turn left on Park Avenue, then left on Golf Drive to Slice Drive.

3. Yellow-crowned night herons - immature and mature

4. Clapper rail

5. Oystercatchers - four

6. Great egrets - some are very near

7. osprey - in the nest - very near the road

8. tricolored heron

9. greater yellowlegs

10. Froster's terns - hovering

11. dumb tortoise - lay eggs along the road

12. tree swallow

13. red-winged blackbird

14. flock of immature Starlings
